WOYWW - Fairies do Exist!

Hello everyone who is passing by Magpieheaven today. If the letters WOYWW are a puzzle to you then click here and find out all about the amazing Julia's blog hop that reveals the work tables of the world! Well the good news first - the Ice Fairies came up with our magical fridge and two very nice mortals delivered it! it's certainly green all right!!!
Apologies for the chaotic kitchen with - the now - horrible clashing colour scheme - green and cyclamen pink, oh dear! Our lovely friend Kevin has had to stop for a while. He is so brilliant and so kind that everyone wants him and he takes on lots of commitments so we have to wait until the end of July for him to fit the cupboards, work-tops and so on! He will be building the cupboards himself so we'll have to be patient. We have a fridge, oven and sink, he took out one cupboard to make room for the fridge and put it back high above so we have to flutter up to reach things. Never mind! I craft on!
You know those cardboard containers Amazon send you books in? Well, I'm in the process of altering one to make it into a wallet for writing equipment - envelopes, paper etc., I'm hoping by the end of all my distressing and altering, it'll look a little less like a cardboard book container! Maybe I'll blog about the process in the future, if I succeed!
I was well pleased with how my shrink plastic medallion on the edge turned out, even though I managed to whack something down on it and almost ruined the Glossy Accents glaze!

Here is the reverse side. You can also see the tip of my storage that I made for my paper up on the right, so I am using it! I've been so inspired by the blogs I've discovered since WOYWW burst into my life! I've learned so much from people like Dianne who transforms paper towels into gorgeous art material; Monique who creates wonderful books, Marit whose journals and scrap-books use so many incredible techniques - I could go on but thank you so much everyone who shares their art so generously. I am thinking as I work today of all those in The States who are suffering from the extreme temperatures at the moment, what a terrible tragedy that the brave fire-fighters in Arizona lost their lives. The 4th July is nearing and I hope my American friends have a happy and peaceful Independence Day. You can see my diary is open too with all I have to do so I'd better flutter off now and take a nosy at what other crafters have been up to lately!

Pink and green is OK for temporary, but I wonder what it will look like when it's all done. Be sure to share....

  20. Love the fridge!! And your work on the bok looks awesome! I know what you mean about ruining the glossy accents. I made a tag (as you saw on my blog) and after I heat embossed it, I scratched half of it off with the cord of the heat gun! I had to start all over again. I'm glad your medallion stayed fine! I have to look for my shrink plastic, I haven't seen it or used it in years!!

  34. Hey Julie, a lean, green, ice machine, thats the ticket, Miss Lunch Lady, and sweety your kitchen is suppose to be chaotic when revamping. I loooove the fridge, in the 60s and 70s they had green fridges, avocado to be exact, yours is fabulous. Okay the fluttering to the the cabinet, toooooo funny, well maybe not for you :), maybe some sweet person could make a stair step to reach, then you can paint it to match your new wall color, thats if your going to change it, I do love the color though red is suppose to be very good feng shui, good luck in a dining area. I wanted my nest to flow properly so learned all about it:O)..
Your "crafting on" is freaking gorgeous, you know how I loooove anything chinese, love the shrink wrap face oh and the box to start with, fabulous love the recycle, believe me my sweet bird, it doesn't look like a box at all and is coming out gorgeous, the blue lovely background, with those torn up red pieces, then the beautiful white flowers the lovely stamped images, the gold embossing, luscious, beautiful butterflies, loooove the close up so you can see all the details. Then the back, the spin is beautiful nice blue background again with a gorgeous fan on the red, love the tape of nibs running down the side. Nope doesn't look like a packaging box any more, you have transformed it into a fabulous wallet for writing equipment.
Well that was a grrreat creative process you took us through with your make, thanks so much and keep crafting on amongst your chaos, you're doing Grrrreat:O) I'm soooooo excited waiting for the post, too bad it too far for our wings to take us for tea, but heres a Cheers for you moring cuppa. big hugs from Canada..

  35. I think a kitchen refurb is far more disrupting than having the roof done. The kitchen manages to spread itself over every available surface and space in a house. At least the roof does not entail completely emptying every cupboard in a kitchen, and it does not sop you cooking either. Hope you soon get back to normal. Have a good week. xx Maggie #3

  37. I actually like green and pink together (and, hey, Tim Holtz put green and fuschia in that summer distress set, right?) but I can see where it might be overwhelming. :) Love the green refrigerator and your Japanese inspired project. Happy WOYWW (and thanks for your WOYWW 211 visit, which I never got a chance to return until now!) ~ Laura #105

  38. OMGoodness... when you said green I thought it would be green... but heck, that is GREEN!! It will all come together given time, and it will be beautiful, if he has that many work commitments he must be very good. Love the Amazon packaging you are doing, it looks lush! Annette #4

  39. Wow! That sure is a jolly GREEN giant of a fridge! I like what you are doing with the recycling of packaging!
Yes! It is most unusual for my desk to be clear. But I had to hide all trace of the project I had been working on!

  44. Let me start off by saying.. WAY COOL FRIDGE!!!! I am excited to see how your kitchen ends up. The kitchen is by far the most difficult room to revamp. We spend so much of our time in the kitchen, it is an area of gathering in our house, it is hard to have it in upheaval.
So on to your WOYWW project. The colors are amazing.I recycle stuff into projects frequently. I did a similar project for keeping oil pastel crayons in with a box from the post office. It had little cubbies inside, and a velcro closure. Mine isn't as pretty as yours. It's held up very well though. I'm currently making a journal from a bisquick box. I've enjoyed visiting. Have a great weekend. (((HUGS)))

  45. Looks like a lot are catching the 'recycle' but at the mount. Drat - I threw one, no two, of those away this week - what a fabulous idea. Love how you have turned an ordinary cardboard container into something so special.
Sorry I am so late - I've just been prioritising my class prep - hope I am forgiven.
Thanks so much for visiting me, I will try to do better next week.
