WOYWW - Phew!!!

Hello and welcome to my work desk today! Hi there to Artwolf, my new follower, all my followers and any visitors dropping by Magpie Heaven today. I have to admit that this is What's on my Work-place Tuesday not Wednesday! If you haven't a clue what I'm chattering on about, click HERE and discover the best blog hop around ! Julia Dunnit's the hostess  of WOYWW, where you can snoop around crafters' desks and make lots of new crafty friends into the bargain. Wednesday is going to be a busy day with the Magpie daughter, Matilda leaving for Cyprus at 4.30 am and then the newly retired Mr Magpie and I are off for a day out. I'm not sure where we're bound yet, but I hope it will be somewhere with lots of shiny things to see! Here's what's on my desk today!
It's my journal spread for The Alpha/Dictionary Challenge over at the Craft Barn. At this point I'd almost finished. Sorry for the bright sunshine that makes it difficult to see. By the time this goes out it will be posted so hope that's OK! If you would like to see in a little more detail you can click on the image. It's so hot and humid at the moment I feel as if I'm dissolving into a little magpie puddle. I've also been working on one of the Fairy Shrine Kits from over at Retro Cafe Art Gallery for the Artful Reading Challenge on Darcy's Art and Sole blog, which is, I think, this Friday.
If you turn it around this is on the reverse side!
It's shaping up to be a busy summer in Magpie Heaven too! It all kicked off with a garden party yesterday to celebrate Mr Magpie's early retirement with some of Mr Magpie's ex-workmates - a lovely day spent in really nice company. Kevin is returning to continue with the kitchen 'make-over' at the beginning of August and Mr Magpie has lots of days out planned - no doubt to escape the mayhem! Once that kitchen is done I'm going to be busy creating Magpie Treasures to make the kitchen homely. And - Dianne - those key fobs are looking great on my key plaque! I think how pretty they are every time I pass them in the hall. I'm going to try to get round to as many desks as I can before we go out! Hope to see you and catch up with what's on your work desk!

  9. I love all the layers and interesting things on your journal page and that double sided fairy shrine kit is gorgeous. I think the worlds weather is upside down as we have your cold, wet weather down here and you have our nice hot weather up there. I'm happy to swap back when you've had enough of the heat. Congrats on hubbies retirement, I've told mine he can't retire until he's ninety as he'd drive me nuts (he he).
    Have a great week.

  18. Please tell Mr. Magpie congratulations on his early retirement--that is so fabulous! Even though our daughters are 19, it is so hard on us moms when they travel, isn't it? But your lovely daughter will have such a wonderful time -- I am in envy -- and she will come back so refreshed and happy! You have a wonderful escape too. Love your art journal, I'm going to check that out on Craft Barn. Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #46

  21. Your shrine is ADORABLE, Julie Ann!

Well I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one confused by the google plus thing--when clicking on someone's comment link, sometimes I can't find any way to find the person's blog, even though I know they HAVE a blog, and I feel bad I can't find a way to visit them! Maybe it's a setting thing?

    Anyway, Happy woyww to you!

  35. Your journal is really stunning, Julie Ann! The sunshine is a perfect touch! I know you get very short summers over there, but I'm sorry these days have been scorching hot and humid. I hope it cools off soon and still stays sunny.

Congratulations to Mr. Magpie on the occasion of his retirement and continued good luck with the mayhem of the remodel! Can't wait to see it all finished!

I'm still working the next two weeks, but I hope to play again in WOYWW before that's up or everyone will forget about me! Thank you for coming by to visit me, especially as you were so busy and I'm not even in the hop this week. Enjoy! Darnell

  37. The temperature has been pretty high here too, and I was foolish enough to do some baking on Tuesday, and the perspiration was just dripping off me, into my eyes etc. I really must get a sweat band if this happens very often. I am sitting here this morning in the cool, watching the men removing all the scaffolding. It will be great to see the house again and to be able to open the windows fully. Just one more job that requires a skip and then everything else is indoors work. I love your journal page, beautiful colouring. Thank you for yoru visit and I hope you have a great week. xx Maggie #38
