I painted this with a good coat of Paper Artsy Little Black Dress Fresco and then applied a thin layer of Crackle Glaze. When the Glaze was quite dry, I painted the tag with Caramel Fresco and waited for the Crackle to work its magic. When the tag was dry and crackly, I stamped the Paper Artsy Mini 75, which is a nice fine script all over the tag, using Ranger Black Archival ink.
Then it was time to think about embellishment. I had my script, how was I going to incorporate the letter 'L' in my design? Script suggested medieval heraldry to me. I rather liked the idea of a fantasy heraldic design using Lynne Perrella images and maybe displaying my letter 'L' as it would appear as an illuminated medieval letter. I have also seen some lovely script flowers made by other crafters so I wanted to incorporate flowers like this too.
I took some sketch paper and painted it with Frescos in Vanilla on one side, Blood Orange over Nougat on the other and stamped with Paper Artsy script stamps Mini 26 and Mini 84 so that I had double-sided paper. I embossed my script with some copper and verdi-gris embossing powder over Versamark and die cut some Tim Holtz Tattered Florals. The tulip was made from a Paper Artsy Eclectica Die and a Lynne Perrella image stamped onto Smoothy Card painted with Caramel, Vanilla and Blood Orange and Chocolate Pudding edging. I stuck this onto a black oval - card painted with Little Black Dress - edged with Treasure Gold.
I die cut a Paper Artsy shape from their 'Hardware' plate that would form my 'heraldic' base for the letter 'L'. I used a tiny rose given my by my dear, crafting friend, Kerry and stamped the script on this with Blood Orange Fresco rather than ink, edging it and the rose with Florentine Treasure Gold.
I dry brushed the edges of my tag with Blood Orange, Toffee and French Roast and sprinkled some Gold UTEE along the sides.
My paper was decorated on both sides so I was able to curl my petals over to reveal text underneath too! I added some cream hemp and some tea-stained lace.
My main stamped image was the centre of my tag. I cut and played around with different elements from the Lynne Perella image to adapt it to the Lin Brown tulip. I loved the way that the image also had medieval script on it. The tower above the lady's head resembled a petal, I thought.
And here is the whole tag...
I finished it off with some punched paper lace with script printed in black Archival ink. Thank you so much for stopping by Magpieheaven and taking a look at my tag. I do hope you will try your hand with this recipe and find a moment to dream with the Dragons too!
