Using a Tim Holtz die, I cut my tag from corrugated card. I then painted the tag with Frescos by PaperArtsy: a base coat of Honeydew then Tango; Autumn Fire; Brown Shed; Blood Orange and Yellow Submarine. I applied some Prima 3D Gloss Gel, coloured with orange Primary Element, pushed through a Prima flourish stencil. The card on the right has been painted with different Fresco paints, including the lovely, bright Beach Hut to stamp on and add to the tag.

Dragon's Dream TIO - Orange and a Letter
Hello and thank you so much for stopping by Magpieheaven! It's been a busy week and I have been blogging more than usual with the PaperArtsy New Stamps launch, so I appreciate anyone who takes a look at my Dragon's Dream tag this week! If you have not done so already, please do pop over to Dragons' Dream TIO and check out the fantastic inspiration the Designers have created there. I do hope that, like me, you will be inspired to leave your comfort zone - if you're not a particularly 'orange' person - and join with the Dragons this fortnight. We were delighted with your interpretations of Helen's theme of 'Red and a Flower' and we're sticking with those warm colours for this fortnight's challenge. The very talented Sylvia whose journal radiates vivid colour has asked us to use Orange and a Letter. As usual, all you have to do to participate in this challenge is to create a tag using the colour in the recipe; a letter and some real stamping.
I do tend to gravitate to blues and I always see it as a challenge to make orange work. However, on this tag I combined a bright blend of oranges and a vivid blue. The sun was shining brightly as I worked, which reminded me of summer sunlight, so my wooden letter 'S' stands for sunshine. Of course it's January here, so there's very little warmth from the sun. That didn't stop me from dreaming of lazy summer days! I think the lady in the central image has a drowsy far away look, as if she is day-dreaming in the rays of the sun.
These little labels, stamped onto the Beach Hut card are by Red Lead and they were a gift from my son. I cut out the Lynne Perrella image from LPC008 and curled and gilded the edges with Florentine Treasure Gold and then stamped the image again, coloured the face with Inktense pencils and cut out just the face, fixing it over the original so that it stood out. I die-cut a little moth from painted Shrink Plastic, stamped with Gothic script from a PaperArtsy Mini. I added a resin rose and a tiny metal leaf painted with Fresco Beach Hut and then touched with Sapphire Treasure Gold.
I used some copper frantage on the edge of the tag. Each of the suns is stamped onto a different coloured card. The one at the tip has been stamped onto a Tim Holtz diamond pattern. As you can see the flourishes are very bright orange indeed from the Primary Element added to the Gel. They remind me of orange ice lolly, actually! I do hope you will join in with this month's challenge. You might find this recipe really warms up your day and has you dreaming sunny dreams with the Dragons!.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful interpretation Julie Ann! I don't find orange easy to use either but with the bright blue this happens to be one of my favourite combos. It's what I call a 'happy' colour scheme!
