Show Your Face in Black and White!

Hello and welcome to Magpieheaven! It's Friday once more and I'm linking up to the wonderful 'Show Your Face' blog, where each week Kim Dellow gathers us together to share faces we've been sketching. It's lovely to see new faces and anyone can join in from week to week. Just pop over to Kim's blog here to find out more. Kim has an exciting plan for us in August. Next month we will be invited to take a look around each other's blogs and take inspiration from what our fellow contributors have been working at. This sounds great fun, as there are some wonderful artists linking up and Kim is always an inspiration. I do hope you will feel inspired to join in either now in July, or next month and link up some portrait art here. This week has been rather busy, but I did spend some time doodling a profile, which I scanned into my computer. Here it is -
I used a black Pilot pen on white sketch-book paper and no colour this time, as I was inspired by some beautiful colouring books for adults that I saw in an art shop recently when I was browsing with my friend Lucy. I wonder what difference colour would make to her? She might be the first in a collection of leafy-haired ladies. Thank you so much for dropping by today.     This is absolutely beautiful, Julie Ann. You have such talent. As you know mum has been doing some wonderful work with the colouring books I have been buying for her and I have loved doing it with her but I still think there is a gap in the market for something a bit more creative and less abstract. I think you are onto something here. It is an incredible growth market at the moment.

    It astounds me that you use the word doodling for this extraordinary, fine detailed drawing. I am sure she would be transformed with a dash of colour but I love her the way she is, the stark black against the pure white.
    For Easter, instead of chocolate I bought my Mum a detailed colouring book, just as you describe, for adults. Colouring books have certainly come such a long way in recent times with exquisite detail.
    I say this with complete sincerity, you could create such a colouring book because the detail and character you have brought to this profile is worthy of such an artful venture.
    What always strikes me is the way you allow your imagination to soar.

    Your detailed black and white is outstanding and elegant. When I realized it looked like feathers in her hair, I was reminded of one of my favorite children's books called "Miss Hunnicutt's new Hat...and they are all animals of some form...
    I'm brand new to this group, but already know I going to love it.
