Stained Glass Beauty from Lynne Perrella!

Here I am again, welcoming you to Magpieheaven! This has been such an exciting week that I'm still all aflutter! For my last blog about the samples for PaperArtsy's new launch, I'm feeling privileged to share with you some brand new Lynne Perrella designs! Do pop over to the blog here and check out all the samples and the video that Leandra has produced. These stamps are available to buy from your favourite PaperArtsy suppliers now.

A stunning image from LP031, this dignified and beautiful lady nevertheless has something ethereal about her. Could she be the way Shakespeare really imagined Titania, Queen of the Fairies - a sort of miniature, magical version of the sovereign - Queen Elizabeth 1?

I used Portfolio Pastels to create the stained glass effect in the central image, which I highlighted with white Signo pen. The detail on that lace ruff is superb and it stamps out really well. I am already dreaming of using this image with fabric and real lace!

I started with some Washi tape I created using a Lin Brown spotty stencil, Fresco Paints and the keys from LP031. I can see so many possibilities for these: I am wondering right now about impressions in clay?

I used a Tim Holtz arch die to cut the card for my central image, and the surround was painted with Frescos, blending and melting Portfolios in different blues and purples really complemented the new PaperArtsy blues and purples well! When they are melted on Smoothy card the Portfolios become matte and you can stamp over them with Black Archival for a great stained glass effect!  For the lacy border I stenciled through a Prima flourish stencil with Versamark and then sprinkled with a mix of frantage and embossing powders and melted.

These other images from LPC031 were great to use for some mail art on the envelope. I used a little tag as a mask and a stamp punch.

Remember the Fragile Papers theme? I fixed some pale blue mulberry paper to the envelope with Satin Glaze and I really loved the effect of the fibres! There's lots of stenciling and brayering on there and embossing with frantage, as I really wanted to bring out the grandeur of the Golden Age evoked on this plate.

To add interest to the back I used this image, coloured with Inktense pencils.

I used the same embossing technique on the background for this jumbo tag, which is a little more Tudor than Elizabethan and comes from the LPC033 plate.

I love the idea of playing with the sun motif on this plate and I added a little painted charm to the Crackle Glazed pediment. The borders on this plate do resemble stained glass too. Here I wanted the wax to create the impression of a seal.

I used Glossy Accents to to turn the little sun in a painted Prima embellishment into a convex mirror.

Finally, an Artist's Trading Card using Portfolios to create a tinted glass effect, charms, a tiny resin rose gilded with Treasure Gold and a scrap of die-cut gilded trellis, given a touch of texture with Grunge Paste. Thank you so much to Lynne Perrella for creating these extraordinarily imaginative and inspiring images and to PaperArtsy for giving me this opportunity to play with such gorgeous stamps! I do hope you have been inspired to adapt these images yourself. I can imagine so many possibilities for them - fabric, jewellery, home decor - dare I say - Shrink Plastic? I'd be so interested to see what you come up with.

  1. Beautiful samples, Julie Ann - I just love the card with matching envelope - gorgeous. And yes, she's definitely saying Elizabeth I to me - and I think she's next on my list! Fab work with the glow of the golden orange at the heart of the second piece - I love those Baroque flourishes in the background. And the rainbow ATC is just glorious!

  12. Well done Julie Ann! All your samples are stunning but my favourite is the first simply because I love arch shapes, lol! Wonderful texture all the way through and stunning colours. I love them all and simply can't choose which stamp set to buy. Might have to be ruled purely by what's left on the shelves when I get to Stamperama, lol!

    Hugs
